Buchholz has lost his spot in Boston's rotation and he will likely be replaced by Eduardo Rodriguez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
After manager John Farrell was non-committal about Buchholz's status moving forward Thursday, it started to become more and more apparent that the veteran righty may have pitched his way out of the rotation. Buchholz was tagged for six earned runs over 5.0 innings Thursday, marking his sixth start of the season in which he allowed five or more runs. He'll work out of the bullpen for the time being, likely as a long reliever, while Rodriguez (knee) is expected to be recalled to start Tuesday.
