Boscan signed a minor league contract with the Royals that includes an invite to spring training. Boscan failed to reach the majors last season for the first time since 2009, as he instead spent the year with the Dodger' Double-A Chattanooga affiliate, posting a dismal .495 OPS in 52 games. The spring training invite is a nice gesture, but the 35-year-old journeyman will almost certainly play out the season, and perhaps the rest of his career, as organizational depth in the minors.
