Benoit (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and could be active for the Padres on Friday, the Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports. Kevin Quackenbush has been holding down the ninth inning in Benoit's absence, but the Padres' closer seems likely to return this weekend, if a save situation were to arise.
