Alvarez (shoulder) will start a throwing program this week after discovering no nerve damage to his shoulder, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alvarez has yet to pitch in a game this season, but could be ready to return to the field soon. He has experienced a few setbacks over the course of this season, most recently being shut down for three weeks back in June, and has visited Dr. James Andrews on a few occasions. Alvarez should now be able to begin taking steps forward, but the team may decide to proceed cautiously due to his past history.
