Alonso (forearm) will not play again in the 2014 season, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Alonso is dealing with a damaged forearm tendon, and corrective surgery has yet to be ruled out. He'll get a second opinion in the near future, but it seems clear that he won't take the field for the Padres again this season. The announcement means more playing time for the likes of Tommy Medica and Jake Goebbert, while Yasmani Grandal may see some extra first base work as well.
