Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals have reached out to free agent reliever Javier Lopez. Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo got in touch with Lopez's agent via text message and there is "mutual interest" in a possible deal. The two sides haven't talked since the initial communication, but they should at some point down the road. Lopez, 36, posted a 1.83 ERA and 37/12 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings in 2013.
