Cabrera went 1-for-3 and stole his first base of the season in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

The speedy Cabrera looked like he nearly separated his shoulder on an awkward dive into second base, but he was fine and remained in the game. Cabrera has made the lion's share of starts at shortstop with J.J. Hardy out, but it took him longer than expected to get his first steal. Cabrera is 8-for-29 on the season, but he does not have an extra-base hit. In lighter news, Cabrera has been cleared to travel to Canada for games against the Blue Jays, MASN Sports reports. It was not a foregone conclusion that Canada would let him in due to pending legal troubles for arrests last year on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Cabrera will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Tuesday against the Yankees, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Cabrera will slot in atop the order for the second time this season, pushing Alejandro De Aza to the nine-hole. It marks Cabrera's fifth straight start, and while his opportunities will likely take a hit upon J.J. Hardy's return from a shoulder injury, Cabrera may then push Jonathan Schoop for playing time at second.

Cabrera is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Friday against the Blue Jays.

With J.J. Hardy (shoulder) on the disabled list, Cabrera has been splitting time with Ryan Flaherty and Jonathan Schoop at the middle-infield spots. Hardy should be available by the end of next week, at which point Cabrera, Flaherty and Schoop will mostly be limited to handling the keystone.

Cabrera is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Tuesday in Tampa Bay, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

Ryan Flaherty will start at second base after hitting a home run on Opening Day, forcing Jonathan Schoop to the bench. Cabrera was expected to get most of the playing time at shortstop in J.J. Hardy's (elbow) absence, but it now appears Hardy will be ready by Saturday.

Cabrera is not in Baltimore's Opening Day lineup, according to MASN Sports.

Ryan Flaherty got the start at shortstop due to his 4-for-9 career batting line against Rays starter Chris Archer. Cabrera is still expected to get the larger load of at-bats which J.J. Hardy is on the shelf. Hardy could miss a large chunk of the month of April.

Cabrera looks like he will start the season as Baltimore's shortstop with J.J. hardy likely to begin the season on the disabled list, MASN Sports reports.

Hardy is almost certainly ruled out for Opening Day at this point and he could miss a good chunk of April with a shoulder injury. It is between Cabrera and Ryan Flaherty for the Opening Day job, but it looks like the Orioles are leaning toward Cabrera. Hardy figures to miss at least the first week of the season. Cabrera singled three times in Monday's game, but he has attempted just two steals this spring in 46 at-bats. If Cabrera is the starter, he could be the leadoff hitter or hit at the bottom of the order.

Cabrera will start in centerfield in Monday's Grapefruit League game, MASN Sports reports.

Cabrera has seen work mostly at shortstop and second base this spring, but the Orioles are considering him for a super utility role. If he makes the team, Cabrera in theory could play anywhere but pitcher and catcher. At the plate, he is 4-for-18 and was caught stealing in his only attempt this spring. The Orioles have very little speed, but it seems the team does not place much value on that. Cabrera would make sense as a late game replacement as a pinch runner, but he will have to beat out Ryan Flaherty and Jimmy Paredes for the last roster spot.

Cabrera is expected to play around the infield in early spring training, but will also get a look in the outfield later on, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Cabrera has had a rocky offseason, and still faces issues with driving under the influence of marijuana, but is now focused on getting in some work with his new team. If Cabrera can show enough versatility, he should be able to nab a utility spot at the very least. General manager Dan Duquette also hinted that they plan to put him at a spot in the order which would allow him to get on base in front of the power hitters, indicating he could be batting near the top of the order or at the bottom.

Cabrera has officially agreed on a one-year deal with the Orioles and will report to camp Tuesday, Brittany Ghiroli of Orioles.com reports.

The deal in place is valued at $2.4 million for one year with up to $600K in incentives. Cabrera will likely serve as a utility infielder during his stint in Baltimore, although there's a possibility that he could take over duties at second base from Jonathan Schoop. Before this happens, however, he'll have to settle an outstanding issue from September regarding driving under the influence of marijuana. Without a clear spot in the starting lineup and potential time off the field looming, Cabrera is a risky option to invest in at this point in the preseason.

The Orioles appear to have a deal in place for Cabrera (hamstring), MASN Sports reports. The deal is pending Cabrera's physical and the Orioles are also seeking more information on what might happen if he faces a conviction for driving under the influence of marijuana following a September, 2014 arrest. Jail time appears to be a possibility. If Cabrera signs, he could threaten Jonathan Schoop for the starting second base job or Ryan Flaherty for the utility infielder job. Cabrera has had lingering hamstring issues, which led to him playing in just 90 games. If he plays full time, Cabrera can lead the league in steals, but the Orioles were last in MLB in stolen bases in 2014. It does not appear the team places much emphasis on speed on the basepaths.
