Rumors are swirling that Fowler is a subject of interest in Toronto, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Jays are looking to acquire a left-hand hitting leadoff man with a strong OBP. Fowler, a free agent, fits that description perfectly. The outfielder's .393 OBP in 2016 ranked sixth in the NL, while his 79 walks in the regular season was eighth in the league. Only four of his 456 at-bats in 2016 were outside of the top spot, and Fowler slashed a solid .277/.393/.449 as the leadoff man.

Fowler declined the Cubs' qualifying offer for the 2017 season, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports.

EDGE Analysis

As expected, Fowler opted to turn down the $17.2 million qualifying offer and will explore offers during free agency. The 30-year-old put up a .276/.393/.447 line to go with 84 runs and 48 RBI with the Cubs in 2016. However, he was only able to play in 125 games as he made a month-long stint on the DL with a hamstring injury.

Fowler received a qualifying offer from the Cubs on Monday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Fowler is not expected to accept this offer given his strong performance over the course of last season, although it is worth noting that this offer could diminish his market value now that he'll cost a draft pick in addition to the high cash price tag.

Fowler went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and run in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

The leadoff man brought home Jorge Soler with a two-bagger in the second, his fourth RBI over his last five games. Fowler has also hit safely in four of those contests, with three multi-hit efforts. The 30-year-old is now slashing a solid .275/.388/.450 over 69 at-bats this season.

Fowler went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs in Wednesday's win over the Reds.

EDGE Analysis

After slumping through much of August and early September, Fowler's found himself again recently -- over his last 11 games, he's gone 14-for-40 (.350) with three homers and a steal. Like the Cubs' other regulars, he could see a few more rest days down the stretch, but appears to once again be a strong fantasy play when he's in the lineup.

Fowler filled up the stat sheet in Tuesday's win against the Reds, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs in the victory.

EDGE Analysis

Although the outfielder is not running as rampant on the bases this year compared to previous campaigns, Fowler's stolen base on Tuesday gave him double-digit swipes for the eighth straight season. Despite being on pace for reductions in runs and hits compared to 2015, Fowler's .272/.386/.438 slash line is a nice improvement from last year's .250/.345/.411.
