Salazar (elbow) is expected to throw a simulated game Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Salazar seems to be recovering quickly from a case of right elbow inflammation, as he first began his throwing program Monday and is already on track to face hitters by the end of the week. If Salazar does indeed complete the simulated game without incident, he might not require a rehab assignment before being activated from the 10-day disabled list, perhaps as early as next week. The Indians are expected to activate Josh Tomlin (hamstring) from the DL before the weekend, so once both Tomlin and Salazar are healthy, manager Terry Francona will have to decide if he wants to stick with a six-man rotation or move one of his starters to the bullpen in September.

Salazar (elbow) is scheduled to throw off flat ground Monday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monday's flat-ground session will mark Salazar's first throwing program since being placed on the disabled list Tuesday with right elbow inflammation. Manager Terry Francona will provide an update on the pitcher's condition following his workout Monday, at which point we'll hopefully have a better idea of his approximate timeline for return.

Manager Terry Francona said Salazar (elbow) is nearing a side session or a simulated game, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is an encouraging sign, as it appears Salazar may not be sidelined for too much longer. An MRI cleared the 27-year-old of any structural damage, and he's close to resuming what should be an abbreviated throwing program less than a week after landing on the disabled list. His possible return date should start to become more clear as he continues to work his arm back to full strength. Josh Tomlin (hamstring) is expected to enter the rotation in his place.

Salazar's (elbow) MRI came back clean Tuesday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Salazar was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with elbow inflammation and his subsequent MRI examination fortunately revealed no further damage. He'll be shut down for a few days before beginning an abbreviated throwing program to work his arm back to full strength.

Salazar (elbow inflammation) will get an MRI Tuesday night, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was placed on the 10-day DL earlier in the day after still feeling stiffness during a side session Tuesday. Ryan Merritt has been announced as his immediate replacement in the rotation, and the hope is that Josh Tomlin (hamstring) will be ready to come off the DL to slot into that spot in the rotation next week. Salazar should be considered out indefinitely for now.

Salazar was placed on the 10-day DL on Tuesday with elbow inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
He gave up six runs on 12 hits in Sunday's start against the Royals, but his fastball was sitting in the 94-95 mph range in that start, so it's unclear exactly when his elbow started acting up. Shawn Armstrong was recalled from Triple-A as a corresponding move, but it is unclear who will step into Salazar's spot in the rotation. Ryan Merritt would presumably be an option, as he is on the 40-man roster and has not pitched since Aug. 12.

Salazar (5-6) allowed six runs on 12 hits and a walk while striking out five batters through 4.2 innings during Sunday's loss to Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Salazar posted a 1.39 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 12.8 K/9 through his previous five outings since returning from the disabled list, so it's probably wise not to overreact to Sunday's stinker. Still, it's worth noting that his range of outcomes has the potential to be pretty wide. Interestingly, Salazar lines up to face the Royals again in his next start, so a bounce-back showing at Progressive Field would be encouraging.

Salazar (5-5) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings in Tuesday's victory over the Twins. He struck out 10 and was credited with the win.
EDGE Analysis
Salazar allowed an RBI single to Byron Buxton in the second inning but went on to retire 16 of the next 17 batters faced. In his last five starts since returning from the disabled list, the 27-year-old has posted a 1.39 ERA and 46:9 K:BB while holding opposing hitters to a measly .161/.223/.223 slash line. Salazar has been on an absolute tear recently and has again established himself as one of the seemingly matchup-proof starting pitching options in the American League. He'll take on the Royals in his upcoming Sunday start.

Salazar allowed a single run on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight batters through 5.1 innings during Thursday's loss to Tampa Bay. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Despite collecting just a single win through four starts since returning from the disabled list, it been a dominant run for Salazar. He's allowed just four runs and racked up 36 strikeouts through 25.1 innings during that stretch, and the 27-year-old righty now sports a 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 12.7 K/9 for the campaign. Salazar sports tremendous upside going forward and lines up to face the Twins at Target Field in his next start.

Salazar allowed a single run on four hits and three walks while striking out 12 batters through seven innings during Saturday's loss to the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The return to the rotation has been a welcomed change for Salazar and fantasy owners, as he's now allowed just three runs on eight hits and five walks while striking out 28 batters through 20 innings over his past three starts. Pitching for a contending team with a strong offense is an excellent complement to Salazar's strikeout upside, and he has the potential to be a high-end hurler down the fantasy stretch. Salazar lines up to face the Rays at Tropicana Field in his next start.
