Chris Nelson (wrist) went 0-for-3 Monday in his first rehab game with Triple-A Colorado Springs. "I did hear he put two balls in play," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "He had two really good swings and put two balls in play very hard. Didn't necessarily get any results from it, but did OK from what I understand for the first day back." Nelson is eligible to return from the disabled list on May 31, and he'll probably be ready then if he doesn't have a setback.

Rockies placed 3B Chris Nelson on the 15-day disabled list with a left wrist injury. Nelson has been bothered by pain in his left wrist for the past couple of days and the Rockies want to get it cleared up. The 26-year-old infielder is batting just .219/.313/.288 in 24 games this year for Colorado.

Chris Nelson had two hits and two RBI against the Padres on Wednesday. Nelson has lost a lot of playing time to Jonathan Herrera of late, but he got the start at third base today because of Troy Tulowitzki's injury. Herrera has really cooled off recently, so Nelson might be able to reclaim the starting job at third base with another couple of nice games. Both he and Herrera are pretty borderline players, though.

Chris Nelson (wrist) is not in the Rockies' starting lineup Monday against the Dodgers. Nelson is still dealing with some soreness in his wrist after tweaking it on a play in Pittsburgh last week. Jonathan Herrera will make the start at the hot corner Monday and bat second.

Chris Nelson went 0-for-3 and struck out twice Wednesday against the Pirates. The Rockies are going with Nelson for his defense, but he's not exactly Brooks Robinson at the hot corner and he's hitting just .224 with four RBI in 49 at-bats. He needs to step it up in order to hold on to the job.

Chris Nelson is expected to start at third base in Friday's opener for the Rockies. Nelson hit .275 in Cactus League play and, according to Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, "showed soft hands defensively, which is why he's expected to get the nod over Jordan Pacheco in the early going." The Rox were originally planning to use Nelson in a utility role this season, but they don't really have many options at the hot corner until top prospect Nolan Arenado is ready.

The Rockies are expected to use Chris Nelson in a utility role this season, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. Nelson, who had a brief stint as a starter last season before being demoted, is looking to put himself in line for semi-regular starts at second base behind the 36-year-old Marco Scutaro. Out of minor league options, the Rockies would have to expose him to other teams through waivers if he's unable to make the final roster.

Chris Nelson has left the Rockies to be with his mother in Atlanta while she deals with a health issue. It's not clear when, or if, he'll return this season. Nelson is batting .250/.280/.383 in 180 at-bats this season.

Chris Nelson hit a solo home run in Friday's blowout loss to the Astros. Nelson's fourth home run of the season was his second of the month. The former first-round pick has hit just .251/.279/.389 in 183 plate appearances this season, and shouldn't be ticketed for more than a bench role in 2012.
