Capps (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Friday in Washington, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
If everything goes well in the sim game Capps could return at some point next week, although there may not be enough time for him to make a notable fantasy impact.

Capps (elbow) reported no discomfort following a Tuesday bullpen session, the first pain-free throwing session he's had since landing on the disabled list in early August, the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Capps has been throwing semi-regularly for the past four weeks but had continual discomfort up until his latest workout. In the midst of a breakout season, Capps is slated to throw again on Friday and could return to the Marlins shortly thereafter. He's compiled a dominating 1.16 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in just 31 innings pitched out of the pen this season.

Miami Marlins relief pitcher Carter Capps is expected to resume throwing in three or four days after being placed on the disabled list Monday due to a strained right elbow, according to the Miami Herald. An MRI taken Monday revealed no major damage, and Capps, who has a 1.16 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 30 games, could return after missing the minimum amount of time.

The Miami Marlins placed relief pitcher Carter Capps on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of an elbow strain. Capps had to be removed from Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres after feeling discomfort in the area, but his placement on the disabled list comes as something of a surprise, as he said he was feeling better after the game. "I'm not really concerned, just frustrated it tightened up when the game's on the line," Capps told Fox Sports Florida. "It definitely gives me a lot of comfort like I said it already feels better now. I have full range of motion. I passed all the tests. It's really not an issue, just unfortunately cramped up on me. Didn't need it to happen that at-bat." Capps is having a breakout season, tallying a 1.16 earned-run average and 58 strikeouts in just 31 innings.

Capps tossed scoreless eighth inning, allowing one hit and striking out a pair to register his second hold of the season. Capps returned to Miami from Triple-A New Orleans in mid-May and has performed exceptionally well with a 1.29 ERA, and more than a strikeout per inning. He appears to be generating trust, and has the stuff to pitch in high leverage situations. With former closer Steve Cishek in the minors, if he can keep working his way up the bullpen food chain, should A.J. Ramos stumble at any point, Capps could be a dark horse to see save chances.

Capps (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings in Saturday's extra-inning affair with Baltimore, striking out six while allowing just one hit to pick up his first win of the year. Capps has been awfully hard to hit in his three appearances with Miami this year, two of which have come since his recall from Triple-A New Orleans. In six MLB innings so far in 2015, he's allowed one run while striking out 11 batters and walking none. Fantasy owners in leagues that count holds should be very intrigued by that, and it's not impossible that Capps could figure into the closing mix sometime down the line if he keeps pitching well.

Capps will be called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. Capps has a 1.80 ERA and 9.0 K/9 for Triple-A New Orleans this season, but he's also walked 10 batters in just 15 innings. While Capps has the talent to eventually emerge as a late-inning arm, the Marlins figure to use him mostly in lower-leverage situations for the immediate future.

Capps was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans after Wednesday's game. Capps was called up Monday to bolster the team's bullpen depth, and ended up retiring the side in order on 10 pitches in the eighth inning of the opener against Atlanta. With David Phelps ready to return from the paternity list, the 24-year-old Capps will head back down, but the right-hander with the funky delivery could return the next time the Marlins need a fresh arm.

Capps was officially from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. Capps will be recalled to take the roster spot of Hendersen Alvarez (shoulder), who landed on the disabled list Wednesday in a corresponding move. He'll likely serve in middle relief, as Alvarez's replacement in the rotation has yet to be announced.

Capps was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. Capps was likely hoping to earn a setup role in front of Steve Cishek, but a shaky spring training has pushed the 24-year-old way down the bullpen pecking order. While we should still see Capps with the Marlins at some point this season, it seems he has some things to work out in the minors. Through just 4.2 innings this spring, he has hit two batters, walked another four and surrendered a home run.
