Parnell has decided to stay with the Tigers and has signed a minor league contract Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was released by the Tigers on Monday, but will return to the club on a new contract. He'll likely act as organizational depth with the Triple-A club, but could find his way back up to the big leagues if he succeeds in the minors.

Parnell was released by the Tigers on Monday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Parnell was in the running for one of the last spots in Detroit's bullpen, but it appears that the Tigers were not willing to give him the position. Parnell struggled a lot last season with the Mets, but he does have a lot of major league experience which could help him latch on with another team fairly soon.

Parnell could win one of the final spots in the Detroit bullpen with Daniel Norris, Alex Wilson and Blaine Hardy all injured, the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Parnell hasn't pitched well this spring as he's given up nine runs and 14 hits in 8.1 innings with a 6:8 K:BB ratio. However, he's a veteran with experience the bullpen may lack. He's battling Kyle Ryan, Bruce Rondon and Buck Farmer for the final three spots in the bullpen.

Parnell signed a one-year minor league contract with the Tigers, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following a dreadful 2015 campaign, the best Parnell could find was a minor league contract that includes an invitation to big league camp. His velocity plummeted in the wake of 2014 Tommy John surgery, but there's some chance it could return after a full offseason of rest. Even if he makes the big league roster, Parnell is unlikely to earn a late-inning role.

Parnell (2-4) imploded again Wednesday against the Phillies, failing to record an out while adding a hit, a walk, a wild pitch and two runs to his line.
EDGE Analysis
Parnell's now averaging nearly two baserunners per inning, and he has 17 walks against just 13 strikeouts. It's enough to make you wonder why manager Terry Collins thinks he should be rolled out in any game the Mets are leading.

Parnell (arm), making his first appearance since being activated off the disabled list, walked the first two hitters he faced and then threw a bunt away, helping paving the way to the Phillies' eight-run, sixth inning Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Parnell was brought in to face the bottom of the Phils' order but failed to get the job done. He likely won't pitch in many close game situations due his continued struggles coupled with the roster expansion on September 1 giving the Mets more bullpen options.

The Mets activated Parnell (arm) from the disabled list Tuesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Parnell is set to rejoin the Mets after spending the last couple weeks on the disabled list. He figures to work in the seventh inning if healthy, but his role will ultimately depend on how effective he is over his next couple appearances.

New York Mets pitcher Bobby Parnell will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to arm fatigue, according to the New York Post. Parnell has yet regain the velocity on his fastball following Tommy John surgery in 2014 and was given a choice between a demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, being designated for assignment or returning to the DL.

Parnell picked up a five-out save Tuesday against Toronto, his first since 2013. He struck out two and allowed one hit. Mets closer Jeurys Familia was unavailable Tuesday after pitching four games in five nights and could go on paternity leave soon. If he does, it looks like Parnell could be relied on to close. After failing to induce a swing and miss in his first two outings, Parnell got five whiffs Tuesday against the Blue Jays, the most life he's shown since coming back from Tommy John surgery. He has yet to allow a run in three innings.

Parnell (elbow) saw his first major-league action since July 30, 2013, allowing a hit while retiring a batter on a groundball to end the eighth with two on and two out Saturday. Parnell's fastball sat only in the 91-92 mph, markedly down from the mid-to-high 90s he threw before Tommy John surgery. The hope was the increased focus of pitching in New York rather than in the minors would result in increased velocity, but that was not the case initially. Despite that, look for manager Terry Collins to slowly increase his usage in the hopes he can be a solid set-up man due to the recent struggles of the rest of the bullpen - save for Jeurys Familia.
