Hamilton left Wednesday's game against the Mariners with left hamstring tightness.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton got the start in left field, walked in his second plate appearance and swiped his second bag of the young season, but it may have come at a cost. Andrew Vaughn replaced Hamilton in left.

Hamilton started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton is the third player to start in left field in the first four games. The White Sox have rotated players in that spot as a replacement for the injured Eloy Jimenez (pectoral). Once Adam Engel (hamstring) returns mid-month, there may be more stability in left.

Hamilton has made the White Sox's Opening Day roster, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton beat out Nick Williams for the role. He might not be anything more than a pinch runner and defensive replacement, however, as it's tough to give regular at-bats to a player who's hit .210/.278/.270 over the last two seasons. He may not even stick in that limited role for long, as Adam Engel (hamstring) isn't expected to be out long.

Hamilton and Nick Williams are competing for Chicago's 26th and final roster spot, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) injury created an opportunity for Hamilton and Williams, each of whom started Saturday's game. Hamilton, who stole his third base in 10 games since joining the White Sox, brings a speed element that could be useful for situational baseball, but it's likely the spot will eventually be filled when Adam Engel (hamstring) returns within the first two weeks of the regular season.

The White Sox signed Hamilton to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being cut loose by Cleveland over the weekend, Hamilton will now move on to the third AL Central organization of his career (having also played for the Royals in 2019). Hamilton's deal includes an invitation to big-league camp, where he'll be evaluated for a potential role as a reserve outfielder on Chicago's Opening Day roster. Even if he does break camp with the White Sox, Hamilton is unlikely to see consistent enough playing time to deliver useful stolen-base production for fantasy managers.

Hamilton was released by Cleveland on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The move was expected after the team informed Hamilton earlier in the week that he wouldn't be winning a spot on the big-league roster. The 30-year-old can still cover ground in the outfield and has great speed, but he may not earn anything more than a role as a late-season pinch-running specialist, as he's hit just .234/.294/.317 over the last four seasons.

Hamilton has been informed that he will not make Cleveland's Opening Day roster, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Terry Francona said the team will attempt to help him land somewhere else, which is why they announced their decision as early as they did. He was in camp as a non-roster invitee.

Hamilton signed a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training with Cleveland on Thursday, Daniel Alvarez Montes of El Extrabase reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton earned 36 plate appearances at the big-league level in 2020, but he hit just .125/.171/.219. More positively, even in the limited playing time he managed to steal six bases and continued to provide strong defense. While no sure thing to make the big-league roster, Hamilton lands in a good spot with the relatively thin outfield in Cleveland.

Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, two stolen bases and three runs scored in Sunday's 10-8 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton played sparingly during the regular season and finishes the year with just a .125 batting average, but the speedy outfielder had a memorable performance in the season finale. He managed to steal home and hit his first home run since Aug. 29, 2018. Hamilton becomes the first Cubs player to swipe home and go deep in the same game since 1967, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com notes. The 30-year-old might earn a spot on Chicago's postseason roster due to his speed, though he's unlikely to impact a game quite like he did Sunday.

Hamilton entered as a pinch-runner for Kyle Schwarber in the eighth and was able to steal second base in the inning. He did not have an official at-bat in the game.
EDGE Analysis
Cubs manager David Ross made a tactical substitution by replacing Schwarber at first with the speedy Billy Hamilton. The 30-year-old successfully stole second base and put himself in scoring position for Jason Heyward at the plate but Heyward unfortunately struck out, stranding Hamilton at second. Hamilton has just two at-bats since joining the Cubs on Sept. 7 as he primarily is used as a late-game replacement depending on the scenario.
