Bill Bray announced his retirement from professional baseball on Sunday. Bray indicated that he has once again torn his labrum which would require another surgery, making the decision easy for him. The 30-year-old southpaw hasn't appeared in the big leagues since he was a member of the Reds during the 2012 season. He concludes his career with a 3.74 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 188/88 K/BB ratio over 197 1/3 innings with the Nationals and Reds.

Bill Bray has been sent back to the Nationals' spring training complex to rehab a sore left shoulder. Bray reported to Double-A Harrisburg on May 6 after spending the first five weeks of the 2013 regular season recovering from lingering back and groin problems. And now he's back in Viera, Florida because of a shoulder issue. "It's working its way out," the veteran reliever told Andrew Simon of MLB.com on Wednesday.

Bill Bray has joined the bullpen at Double-A Harrisburg. Bray hung back at extended spring training for the first month of the regular season to get healthy. He signed a minor league contract with the Nats in early December and could climb his way to Washington eventually.

Bill Bray has been reassigned to minor league camp. Bray was a candidate for a left-handed specialist role, but there isn't a spot for him on the Nationals' Opening Day roster. It's fair to wonder if he's still dealing with injuries at this point. Bray doesn't have a spring training opt-out in his minor league deal, so he'll be forced to start the season at Triple-A Syracuse.

According to William Ladson of MLB.com, now that J.P. Howell has signed with the Dodgers, Bill Bray has a chance to be the second left-hander in the Nationals bullpen. Bray, who inked a minor league deal with the Nats earlier this offseason, was limited to just 8 2/3 innings in 2012 due to back and groin injuries. He was extremely effective as a left-handed specialist for the Reds in 2011 however, posting a 2.98 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 44/17 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings while limiting left-handed hitters to a miserable .180/.265/.292 line.

MASN's Dan Kolko confirms Bill Bray is a candidate to replace Mike Gonzalez in the Nationals' bullpen. Bray was signed to a minor league deal this offseason after being limited to just 14 appearances with the Reds in 2012 due to back and groin issues. If healthy, he should be able to secure a left-handed specialist role with Gonzalez and Tom Gorzelanny both signing with the Brewers. According to Kolko, J.P. Howell is the Nationals' top target on the free agent market.

Nationals signed LHP Bill Bray to a minor league contract. Bray, who was originally drafted by the Expos back in 2004, was limited to just 8 2/3 innings for Cincinnati this year due to back and groin issues. However, he has enjoyed some success in 2010 and 2011 and could make for a savvy addition if healthy.

Bill Bray has elected free agency. Bray was limited to just 8 2/3 innings for Cincinnati this year due to back and groin issues. He pitched very well for them in 2010 and 2011, though, so he shouldn't have trouble landing a job elsewhere.

Bill Bray (back) will not be activated from the disabled list this month. Bray's back is still giving him trouble. The left-hander wound up pitching just 8 2/3 innings for Cincinnati this year due to back and groin issues.

Bill Bray (back) allowed three runs and five hits over 1 2/3 innings Saturday at Triple-A Louisville. "It's not looking like it," manager Dusty Baker responded Monday when asked whether Bray will be able to return to the major leagues this season. The right-hander has thrown just 8 2/3 innings for Cincinnati this year.
