Parrino was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. With Jed Lowrie dealing with a fractured finger and requiring a stint on the DL, Parrino will join the Athletics to give them some more options in the middle infield. With Eric Sogard the only other player on the active roster capable of comfortably manning shortstop, Parrino could find his way into semi-regular at-bats. However, he's shown little prowess with the bat during his limited opportunities in the majors and will bring most of his value with his glove.
