Skaggs (elbow) will have his Tommy John surgery performed Wednesday in Los Angeles, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports. Unlike the Mets' Matt Harvey and several other pitchers who have suffered late-season UCL tears and required Tommy John surgery, Skaggs has already closed the door on pitching during the upcoming season, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Skaggs has stated a desire to come back completely "fresh" in 2016, with an early return not on the table regardless of how well his rehab goes over the next several months. His absence, and the hole it creates in the back-end of the rotation, will likely convince the Halos to target a starting pitcher on a short-term deal in the offseason.
