Max Scherzer struck out seven while tossing seven frames of one-run ball in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Dodgers. He permitted just four his and walked a pair. The only tally the Dodgers were able to get off of Scherzer was an unlikely one, as Miguel Rojas jumped on a high fastball in the fifth inning for his first career home run. Scherzer has been dynamite since his 10-run meltdown against the Royals last month, allowing just five runs over his last four starts. He finishes the first half with a 3.35 ERA with 146 strikeouts over 126 1/3 innings.
