Jason Vargas allowed two runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday. Vargas kept the Rays off the board until the sixth inning, when an Evan Longoria two-run single did all the damage he would allow. The left-hander walked two while striking out three. It's generally been a good first half for the 31-year-old, as he owns a 3.31 ERA and 1.23 WHIP heading into his last start of the first half against the Tigers on Sunday.
