Yankees designated OF/DH Alfonso Soriano for assignment. Soriano slugged 17 homers over 58 games after being picked up by the Yankees last season, but he's hit just .221/.244/.367 with six bombs over 67 contests this year. Given his $18 million salary, he'll obviously clear waivers. However, he shouldn't have trouble finding someone willing to give him a shot at the league minimum.
