Roberto Hernandez was hit hard in a losing effort against the Pirates on Friday, surrendering five runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Hernandez also issued four free passes while striking out three on the afternoon. Most of the damage came during a four-run first inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Jordy Mercer. The veteran right-hander now sports a troublesome 4.48 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through 92 1/3 innings on the season. He'll look to improve upon his 3-8 record when he does battle against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
