Tony Cingrani surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over five innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday. It was speculated that this start could determine Cingrani's fate in the rotation. If so, it doesn't say much. Cingrani was passable, striking out three and walking two in falling to 2-5 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. Cingrani or Alfredo Simon will head to the bullpen when Mat Latos (elbow) returns. Cingrani might still be suffering from a sore shoulder that is syphoning off a little velocity, and it wouldn't shock if he were demoted or placed on the disabled list, either. Cingrani is currently scheduled to host the Giants next week.
