Pirates activated C Russell Martin from the 15-day disabled list. Martin missed four weeks with a severe left hamstring strain. He did not play in a single minor league rehab game but had been catching simulated innings and taking batting practice with his Pirates teammates. The veteran catcher is hitting .242/.342/.355 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 16 games this season. Martin is suspended for Thursday's game (due to last month's brawl with the Brewers) but should return to action on Friday.
