Tigers signed RHP Joel Hanrahan to a one-year contract; placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury. The financials of the contract are not yet known, though general manager Dave Dombrowski not surprisingly announced that the deal includes incentives. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Hanrahan was clocked as high as 93 mph during an audition for teams last month. The Tigers aren't setting a timetable for his return, but the general feeling is that they're hoping to have him by early June. Hanrahan could eventually work his way into being Joe Nathan's primary setup man.
