Bobby Parnell is out with a torn medial collateral ligament and could be facing season-ending Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. That gives Valverde significant fantasy value (for as long as he can hold the job). The 36-year-old right-hander had a rough 5.49 ERA in 19 1/3 innings last season for Detroit.
