White Sox re-signed 1B/DH Paul Konerko to a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Konerko will receive $1.5 million in 2014 while another $1 million will be deferred to 2021. The 37-year-old is expected to serve as Jose Abreu's backup at first base while seeing some time at DH against left-handers. However, he likely won't get enough at-bats to be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues.

that deferred $1 million to 2021 is pretty dang smart. he just gave himself a nice after baseball paycheck. he will be in his mid 40's at that time.
