Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports that the White Sox have had talks with Tyler Flowers' representatives about reaching a deal in order to avoid arbitration. Flowers sounds optimistic about a deal getting done. "There have been a couple of conversations, and it seems like it's getting pretty close," he said. "But that doesn't guarantee anything. Even if you talk with a team before the [tender] date, you can't bank on any of that." MLBTradeRumors.com has projected a $1 million salary for Flowers in 2014.
