Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday that Jordan Schafer (back, quad) is fine to play. Schafer has dealt with back and quad ailments over the past week, but that's not the reason for his absence from Saturday's lineup. Gonzalez noted that Kyle Kendrick has been better against left-handed hitters this season, and he also indicated that he'd prefer cutting back on Schafer's playing time. "I think Schafe is a valuable piece and a valuable player and if we play him like we did April May and half of June, I think he'll be fine," said Gonzalez.
