CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports Barry Zito has cleared waivers. It's strictly a procedural move, but he's now free to be moved to any team. Because of his massive salary, Zito is unlikely to be traded. He was pulled from the Giants' rotation earlier this month and has a 5.40 ERA over 23 appearances (21 starts) this season.
