Diamondbacks placed C Miguel Montero on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 29, with a lower back strain. Montero has dealt with the issue for a while now and will now get some extended rest. Wil Nieves, who is hitting .354 in 37 games this year, will handle the load behind the plate during his absence.
