Pirates placed INF Chase d'Arnaud on the 60-day disabled list with a thumb injury. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-acquired John McDonald. D'Arnaud had left thumb surgery on Tuesday and will likely be sidelined until sometime in May.
