Carlos Beltran (knee) hopes to be back in the lineup for Friday's NLCS Game 5. "Today was better than yesterday," Beltran said after the Cardinals' Game 4 win. "I was able to go to the cage a lot, right-handed and left-handed, and (Friday) is the day I have to go for it." Beltran has struggled in his career versus Barry Zito, batting just .227/.261/.318 over 44 at-bats, which could play into a decision whether or not to give him another day. Matt Carpenter has filled in for Beltran more than capably, collecting a home run, double and two walks in two games.
