Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe was told by Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington that the team is not considering re-signing free agent outfielder J.D. Drew. The Sox have some more money to play with after dealing Marco Scutaro Saturday, but they apparently feel comfortable with their right field situation and will instead use that cash to upgrade the rotation. Drew isn't planning on retiring like he previously indicated he might, but there's been little buzz this offseason as to where he might wind up. He could make for a solid platoon guy if he manages to stay healthy, as he can still hit right-handed pitching.
