Blanco denied his assignment to the minors Saturday in favor of free agency, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Blanco played the majority of last season in Triple-A, though he only played in 70 total games last season. With the Phillies, the 30-year-old hit .277/.306/.447 with a home run and three RBI over 25 games. He will take his chances in the open market this offseason.
