Ross (elbow) will not make Wednesday's scheduled start and will be shut down for the remainder of the season. Rather than risk the chance of Ross aggravating the soreness in his elbow and forearm heading into the winter, the Padres will take a prudent approach and have the right-hander skip his final turn as a precaution. He'll likely rest the next several weeks to aid the recovery of his arm, but he should otherwise be on track for a normal offseason. Ross took an important step forward in 2014, accruing a 2.81 ERA and 1.21 WHIP while striking out nearly a batter per inning in his 31 starts. Though he'll cede Wednesday's start to Joe Wieland, Ross will enter next season as a worthy co-ace to Andrew Cashner.
