Beltran was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup with right elbow soreness, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports. Beltran was originally slated to serve as the designated hitter in Wednesday night's contest against the Rays, but the elbow problems that have been bothering him all season will cost him yet another game. He's scheduled to have surgery as soon as the season is over, but with the Yankees 5.5 games out of the AL Wild Card hunt entering Wednesday, it wouldn't be surprising to see them make the decision as soon as their playoff hopes have officially slipped away. A replacement for Beltran on Wednesday has yet to be announced.
