Kershaw allowed three runs, only one of them earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out eight Padres on Monday for his league-leading 18th win of the season. Kershaw was hurt by some shoddy Dodgers defense, but pitched his way out of any major damage. The lefty is getting National League MVP buzz to go along with his shoe-in Cy Young Award status. Only seven pitchers have won both awards in either league, Justin Verlander being the most recent in 2011. Kershaw will face the rival Giants on the road Sunday.
