An MRI on Perez's knee came back negative Thursday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports. The Royals only sent Perez in for an MRI as a precaution, and it verified that there were no issues with the catcher's knee beyond the discomfort he's experiencing. Perez could need a few more days away from catching before the pain dissipates completely, but the Royals could try to keep his bat in the lineup by using him at DH. Either way, any amount of time Perez misses behind the plate will equate to more starts for backup catcher Erik Kratz.
