Marlins manager Mike Redmond indicated Saturday that Jordany Valdespin will see regular playing time at second base for the time being. Valdespin is starting at second and in the No. 2 spot in the batting order Sunday for the second time in as many games since being promoted. "Our offense has been slow and sluggish, so we are looking for a guy that can hit at the top of the order . and get us going a little bit," Redmond said. Valdespin is only a .220/.271/.378 hitter across 354 career plate appearances, but he has a little bit of pop and can run, so the 26-year-old is worth a shot in deeper leagues while he's hitting in front of Giancarlo Stanton.
