Pirates placed C Chris Stewart on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee injury. Stewart had surgery on his right meniscus in mid-March and is expected to miss the first 3-4 weeks of the regular season. Tony Sanchez will serve as the backup to starting catcher Russell Martin in the early going.
