Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports that Royals manager Ned Yost on Friday sounded "more resigned" to Luke Hochevar needing Tommy John surgery. Hochevar is dealing with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament and was set to receive a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Thursday. The initial thought was that he'd rehab it and attempt to pitch through it, which would surely be the Royals' preference since he's a free agent after this season. However, having the operation now would give Hochevar a shot to be ready for most, if not all, of next season.
