Royals optioned RHP Kelvin Herrera to Triple-A Omaha. It wasn't too long ago that Herrera was threatening Greg Holland for the closer role, but he has struggled to keep the ball in the ballpark this season, surrendering eight home runs in just 20 1/3 innings. He'll attempt to straighten things out in the minors.
