Pirates purchased the contract of RHP Vin Mazzaro from Triple-A Indianapolis. Mazzaro owns an ugly 5.22 ERA in the majors and is expected to pitch in middle relief. Bryan Morris was optioned to the minors in a corresponding roster move.
