Johnson could be used in multi-inning stints this season, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "That's something we have spoken about, with (pitching coach) Roger (McDowell), and I think it's a good thing," manager Fredi Gonzales said. "(Johnson) wants to do it. That gives you nice little flexibility. You can't do it three days in a row. You might go an inning and a third, or an inning and two-thirds. But it gives you a little flexibility that he can do that." Johnson, who led the majors in saves from 2012-13 with 101, has worked exclusively in one-inning stints with the big club so far this spring. However, he made a two-inning appearance on the minor league side last week, and he's scheduled to pitch more than one inning Saturday. The 31-year-old right-hander struggled mightily in 54 appearances between Oakland and Detroit last season (7.09 ERA), but he will look to recoup some value with Atlanta this year before hitting the open market again in the winter.
