Edwin Encarnacion will take the everyday starts at first base, meaning Valencia will compete with Justin Smoak and Dioner Navarro for starts at DH. Regardless of where he plays, it is pretty clear that Valencia will primarily be used against lefties, making him a better name for daily leagues than full-season leagues.
