Cain (elbow) will likely enter spring training slightly behind the Giants' other starting pitchers, the Sacramento Bee reports. Cain threw 30 pitches from a mound Friday, which followed a session Tuesday where he threw 25 pitches at 60 to 70 percent effort. Returning from surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow and ankle, Cain said that he feels as though the procedure on his elbow lifted years of wear off of his arm. It's expected that Cain will be ready by Opening Day, but it will be worth monitoring his status throughout spring training to ensure that he's stretched out enough to maintain that timetable.
