Lombardozzi was traded to the Pirates on Tuesday for cash considerations, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports. Manny Machado's absence afforded Lombardozzi a chance at semi-regular playing time to start the season, and he hit .292 in 72 at-bats in April, but then saw just a mere one at-bat after the calendar turned to May. His numbers in a larger sample at Triple-A Norfolk left a lot to be desired (.270/.307/.311) and the 26-year-old will likely serve as little more than a last-ditch utility option with his new club.
