GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Howard will get every opportunity to play and be the Phillies' regular first baseman this season, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Amaro acknowledged that Howard could be unseated if someone takes the job from him during the season. The Phillies have tried to trade Howard this offseason, but have found no takers. They will likely need to let him play regularly the first few months of the season, hoping he gets off to a good start which might entice another club to take a chance on the aging slugger.
