Gattis (illness) is expected to play approximately five innings Thursday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Manager Fredi Gonzalez doesn't want to overexert Gattis in his first start since Sept. 7, so he'll have him catch only the five innings or so starter David Hale will be on the mound. Gattis was originally forced out of action due to a bout of strep throat, but he was later diagnosed with a kidney stone, resulting in the extended absence. He's been able to pinch hit three of the past four days.
