Fiers tossed five scoreless innings against Miami on Thursday, scattering three hits with eight strikeouts. Fiers hit Giancarlo Stanton in the face during the fifth inning, and was visibly shaken up, in what was a scary scene. Even though Fiers was performing well, and at a pitch count of just 82, Milwaukee must have felt he was too worked up to continue. The funky-throwing Fiers has been brilliant since joining the rotation in early August, entering Thursday's start with a 5-1 record and 46:7 K:BB ratio in 41.2 innings. We've seen a stretch like this from him before in 2012, so it's not completely out of the ordinary. In any event, hopefully he can put the Stanton situation behind him, and keep rolling in his only start next week at St. Louis.
