Desmond went 1-for-4 Monday with an RBI single as the Nationals topped the Braves 2-1. Desmond has hit safely in four straight, but has struggled a bit at the plate this month. After hitting .264 in August, Desmond is batting only .194 thus far in September. For the year the shortstop is now hitting .248 with 22 homers and 82 RBI.
